How Do I Get a Library Card?

You must apply in person and bring along proper identification, linking you to a Pike County address.  The following are eligible for a library card at no charge:

  1. Residents of Pike County.
  2. Pennsylvania residents who have a library card from an Access-PA participating library.  You must have that card with you when you apply.
  3. People who own property in Pike County.

If you do not fall into those categories, you can obtain a non-resident library card by paying $25.00 per family per year.  A temporary card, good for four months, is available for $10.00.

Where Can I Use My Library Card?
Your Pike County Public Library card can be used at any of our three branches, located in Milford, Dingman Township and Lackawaxen Township. 

You can also use your library card to view your library account, renew and reserve items online, and access online resources such as PowerLibrary, Learn-A-Test, and HeritageQuest.

If you are a Pike County resident, your card will feature an Access-PA sticker which entitles you to apply for a library card at any other Pennsylvania public library that participates in the statewide Access-PA program.

Do I Have to Notify the Library When I Change My Address or Telephone Number?
Yes, please notify us as soon as possible.  You can call or stop by any branch or contact us by e-mail.

I Can't Find My Library Card.  What Should I Do?
You can still check out items by giving your name and showing proper identification, but you do need the barcode number on your card in order to use our online services.  Replacement cards are $1.00 each. 

What is the Borrowing Period on Items?
Books, audio books, magazines and CDs can be borrowed for two weeks.  DVDs and videos can be borrowed for one week.

How Much Are Late Fees?
There is a 10 cents per day charge on overdue books, magazines, audiobooks and CDs.  There is a one dollar per day charge on overdue DVDs and videos.  Maximum overdue charge per item is $10.00.

Where Can I Return Library Materials?
You may return your PCPL items at any branch of Pike County Public Library during business hours.  Each branch also features an outdoor book drop for after hours returns. PCPL also has a book drop located inside of the Bushkill Corners Convenience Store, located on Buhskill Falls Road in Lehman Township. 

What if PCPL Doesn't Have the Item I am Looking For?
If none of our branches has the item you want, it can almost always be requested through Interlibrary Loan.  (Click here for details.)  We will contact you when your item is received, or if the item is unavailable.

Do You Have an Online Card Catalog?
You can access our online card catalog by going to our website, www.pcpl.org and from the homepage link, click on library catalog.  You can also access the catalog 24/7 through any internet computer.

How Do I Search the Catalog for Items?
Go to the navigation bar at top of the page under the title Catalog & Research select for the PCPL Catalog.  For instructions on searching, go to "Online Help".  You can also place holds and renewals online.  For information, go the library catalog and click on  "How to Place Holds and Renewals."

How Do I Get a PIN So I Can Access My Account?
If you don't know or forget your PIN, call any branch of PCPL and we can re-set a PIN for you.  After you log in to your account with this PIN, you can change it to your preference.  If you change your PIN, it will be your responsibility to remember it since the number will be encrypted and our staff will not have access to it.
