Free card issued to Pike county residents. Must bring identification showing

BOOK DROPS
Located at all branches. They're open when we're not.
BOOK SALES
Fall and Spring Book Sales are organized by the Friends of PCPL. Book
donations for the sales can be dropped off at any branch.
CHILDREN'S COLLECTION
Board books, picture books, easy readers, juvenile fiction, magazines,
reference materials, videos and audiotapes designed for pleasure reading
or homework help.
CHILDREN'S PROGRAMS
Regularly-scheduled Preschool Story Hours and Summer Reading Programs
for young people. All are free and open to the public.
COMMEMORATIVE BOOKS
Celebrate a birth or anniversary or honor a loved one through our Commemorative
Book program. Ask for details at any branch.
COMPUTERS
Computer terminals are available at all branches for word processing and
Internet searching.
DICTIONARIES, ENCYCLOPEDIAS, ALMANACS, ETC.
Ready-reference materials are available for your use at all branches.
DINGMAN TOWNSHIP BRANCH
Opening in the Fall of 2002. our newest branch is located on Log Tavern
Road, near the intersection of Route 739 in Dingman Township. Call for
information.

FICTION
Arranged alphabetically by author.
FINES
Fines are charged for materials returned after the due date. Fines for
books, audio tapes, and magazines are 10 cents per item per day. Maximum
fine is $10,00 per item. Video fines are $2.00 per day per video, with
a maximum fine of $10.00 per video.
FRIENDS OF PIKE COUNTY PUBLIC LIBRARY

HOURS
Dingman Township Branch- Monday, Tuesday and Friday 10-6; Wednesday and
Thursday 2-8; Sunday 10-2.
Lackawaxen Branch-Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday 2-7; Sunday 10-3.
Milford Branch-Monday and Tuesday 10-9; Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and
Saturday, 10-5.
INTERLIBRARY LOANS
If we don't have it at PCPL, we'll order It for you through ourInterlibrary
Loan service. Limited to three items per person per week.
INTERNET
Internet access for web searching or e-mail is available at all branches
for patrons ages 16 and older. Beginner Internet classes are also offered.
JUVENILES
Babies and children to age 16 may be issued a library card when accompanied
by parent or guardian.
LACKAWAXEN BRANCH
Located in the St. Luke's Center on Route 590 in Greeley. For information

LARGE PRINT BOOKS
PCPL offers a new selection of large print books every ten weeks, through
a rotating collection service of our district library in Scranton.
LOAN PERIOD
All books, magazines and audiotapes are checked out for 14 days. Videos
are checked out for 7 days.
LOCAL HISTORY
Historical information on Pike County and its inhabitants.
MAGAZINES
Over 120 titles are available through our three branches. Back issues
are kept from 6 months (weeklies) to one year (monthlies).
MILFORD BRANCH
Located at 201 Broad Street in Milford. This branch also headquarters
our Administrative offices. Call (570)296-8211 for information.
NEW BOOKS
A special section displays new adult fiction and non-fiction for several
months before they join the rest of the collection.
NEWSPAPERS
The New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Middletown Record, Pocono Record,
Pike County Dispatch, The Gazette, Pike County Courier and the River Reporter
are available.
NON-FICTION
Arranged by Dewey Decimal number.
OPEN DAILY
At least one branch of PCPL is open every day of the week, except holidays.
Check branches for their schedules.
PHOTO COPIES
Copiers are available at all branches for patron use. Cost is 25 cents
per page (15 cents for students and senior citizens.)
POWER LIBRARY
A comprehensive reference resource from the Commonwealth of PA. Features
thousands of magazine and newspaper articles from EBSCO, encyclopedias,
AP photo archives, maps and more. Available online at the library or through
our website, www.pcpl.org
PROGRAMS
PCPL'S programs for adults and children are designed to meet the cultural,
educational and recreational needs of our patrons.
REFERENCE
Have a question? Need help with homework or research? Ask in person or
call one of our branches for help.
RENEWALS
Items may be renewed once if there are no reserves. Renew in person or
by telephone at the branch from which the item was borrowed.
RESERVES
Reserves may be placed on library materials by filling out a reserve card
at any branch, or by calling (570) 296-8211.
RETURNS
Items may be returned to any library branch during business hours. Book
drops, for use when the library is closed, are located near the entrances
of each branch.
SCHOOL READING LISTS
The Accelerated Reader and Summer Reading lists from local schools are
available at the library. We have also supplemented
our collection with many books from the lists.
TAX FORMS
Federal and state tax forms are available at each branch, beginning in
January. Patrons are responsible for knowing which forms they need.
TOURS
Guided tours of the library are available for small groups of all ages.
SERVICE
Our goal is to give patrons courteous and efficient service (with a smile!)
VIDEOS
Adult patrons may check out up to four videos at a time for one week.

Our telephone answering machine is on when we are closed
VOLUNTEERS
Interested in volunteering at the library? Ask for a volunteer application
form at one of our branches.

YOUNG ADULT
Our Young Adult collection at each library features materials designed
to meet the needs of today's teens.
ZINDEL
The Paul Zindel Young Adult collection at each of our branches has been
named in honor of the Pulitizer Prize-winning author, who has been supportive
of PCPL and its young adult patrons.
